In my instance I have been working with my current employer for past 5 years and this is 2nd H1B renewal with the same employer. It is sad that they have such a policy which discourages jobs in consulting sector.

I am sorry PnjbIndia, I am not at all familiar with cross chargeabilty. Maybe you do have to wait for her FP but I can't be certain. Have you considered doing an INFOPASS appointment? Wish you all the best and hope that you will get good news soon!!!!!

When I applied for my wife's AOS 3 weeks ago as a derivative, my lawyer also wrote in the cover letter to consider my case in cross chargeability.
But I have not seen any LUDs on my case yet. One point is that , may be I have to wait till my wife has got her FP cleared? Or can I get my case approved before hers? My FP is cleared....
Do you think they can give me the GC before my wife? Or they both have to come at the sametime... she is my AOS dependent, but i am using her country for cross chargeability.... any thoughts....

Unfortunately, your new wife cannot file the I-485 until your PD becomes current. Because she cannot file her I-485, she will not be entitled to an EAD based on having a pending I-485. If your new wife's country of birth is not the same as yours, you both may benefit from quota cross-chargeability rules.

My director called me again and told me that since I have already applied for my GC, they are ready to keep me as a contractor for 1 year so that I can have my GC and join them. I told her that my Labor certification wont complete by then and there are 2-3 more processes after that. They are really surprised to hear that GC for qualified ppl takes 5-8 years...

You can file 2 applications. It's likely that they will not issue two Advance Parole and EAD applications to each of you. At some point down the road USCIS will make you choose which application to pursue to completion.

If you filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on July 30, 2007, or after, and you paid the I-485 application fee required, then no fee is required to file a request for employment authorization on Form I-765. You may file the I-765 concurrently with your I-485, or you may submit the I-765 at a later date. If you file Form I-765 separately, you must also submit a copy of your Form I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt as evidence of the filing of an I-485.
If you are filing for an extension of your Employment Authorization and your Form I-485, Application for Permanent Residence, was filed before July 30, 2007, then you must pay the $340 filing fee.
Based on the above text, you are supposed to pay $340. Chances are that your EAD application might be rejected due to no filing fee.
Coming to your questions, below are the answers

i called the bank too and they cant read the check neither..i can see a number starting with ent only....where in the checkexactly do we look for the receipt number.

No one can make a decision for ya... based on the historical data, both EB2 & EB3 are doing bad especially in regards to your PD. So just flip a coin or think of your favorite God and make a decision. You have no other choice.

My 485 was approved last week. Current status is Post Decison Activity. I've received Welcome Notice few days back.
It seems like USCIS automatically ported the PD.
My EB3 PD is April 2003 and working for the sponsored company.
I filed another 140 under EB2 through another company and it got approved 3 years back. I never joined in that company. I didn't port my EB3 PD when the EB2 140 was filed.
As a matter of fact, I completely forgot about this EB2 140 and this company.
All of a sudden, last week my 485 was approved with the EB2 PD which is Jan 2006.

It seems like every one is yelling and trying to make others feel low if they didn't attend rally or didn't contribute...
The website is free and its up to individuals to do what ever they want ...
May be they will feel the heat or retrogression after 2 years or so and start doing something about it (like contributing..
All i am saying is do not chase visitors away with your anger...

I applied I-485 in July 2007. But didn't apply for EAD/AP. I applied for EAD for the first time now, few days back and I was asked by my lawyer a check of $340 as application fee.

As per my understanding you can get a 3 year extension if :
a) Your I-140 has been approved
b) Your PD is not current
If your PD is current and you have filed for your AOS (i-485), then you can get only 1 year extensions of the H1B till you get your green card.
Someone, please correct me if I am wrong or if there's not enough clarity in my answers.

Answer to the initital inquiry in this thread:
I don't think anyone can know at this point. There is frontlog/backlog at different steps. USCIS information they post is misleading. Look how wrong receipting dates information is !!!...:(
